Return a MiniMax Today
When MCTV completed the digital transition of their system, customers were provided up to three MiniMax boxes free-of-charge. Technology has changed tremendously since then. This equipment will soon no longer be supported and will cause disruption in service if it is not upgraded.
We take pride in providing our customers with the ultimate entertainment TV experience. For this reason, by early 2024 the product will no longer be supported by MCTV.
There are a few reasons why MiniMaxes are being phased out.
- The equipment is old and outdated and may cause service interruptions.
- The technology to support this equipment will no longer work in early 2024.
- New technology has a higher performance success than outdated boxes.
- They do not provide the best TV viewing experience for customers.
Because of these reasons, customers are no longer able to swap out or add MiniMaxes to their accounts. All MiniMax boxes need replaced and disposed of properly.
To help with this transition to other boxes, MCTV is offering High Definition (HD), Standard Definition (SD) and Fusion Player boxes.

FAQ
What is a MiniMax?
A MiniMax is a one-way converter box that allows an analog TV to display channels that have been transmitted to the home in a digital format. The MiniMax has a "Cable In" and "To TV" output only, utilizing either coaxial connection or composite (RCA red, white and yellow) to connect to your TV. The MiniMax does not support any advanced video services such as: HD channels, the Interactive Program Guide, or OnDemand programming, nor does it offer additional channels above Basic Cable service.
What do I need to do?
Call MCTV to upgrade your MiniMax box or complete the form on this page to let us know you DO NOT have a MiniMax box. MCTV will remove the MiniMax from your account.
What are my options if I don't want a new box?
With many newer TVs you are able to access channels on our Lifeline and Basic TV lineups without the use of a set-top box. If your TV has a QAM tuner, you are able to do this. Many newer TV sets purchased after 2006 have a QAM tuner. The easiest way to tell if you TV has a QAM tuner is to look on the TV’s remote control for a button with a dash (-) or dot (.). If it has this, it has a QAM tuner.
Not all channels are available with a QAM tuner. To see what is available, view our QAM tuner channel lineup.
